General Election

Post by Mike »

It has been 2-3 days of election coverage and I am already bored. How bad is that. I have to put up with their bickering for another month.

The exciting bit is the election night and I shall be watching as the results roll in. At least as long as I can stay awake!

 Not taking the Friday after off then? ;-)

My Dad used to sit up and watch them, but as he now struggles to keep his eyes open till about 19:30, I suspect he'll skip them this year!

I've managed to escape most of it by only watching DVDs, but we've had stuff through the letterbox from the Lib Dems detailing the incumbent Labour MP's dubious expenses claims. Along with "newsletters" featuring politicians standing around in front of important things.

Looks like the recycling bin's going to be getting pretty full.

I received a letter from a Milliband yesterday (can't remember the first name). Apparently he's something to do with energy sustainability these days and our local Labour MP is big on this sort of stuff...so...er...vote for her, please.

I'm not convinced! That said, I'm not convinced by the Conservatives or the Lib Dems either.

What would happen if the voter turn out was zero? Would the politicians vote for themselves and therefore tie each seat at 1 vote each?

The live debate yesterday was quite interesting. I don't think anything particularly revelutionary was said but still. Who else thought that the set was absolutely rubbish. It looks like they spent all their money on colour changing lights that were not used to their full potential. Very odd.

Synopsis, sir?

Still not seen that debate that happened, may have to try to catch it on the BBC site. Was interesting to note some of the factors in the JFK / Nixon televised debates (Nixon recovering from illness so looking like shite and making a worse impression as a result, etc.).

From what I understand, Nixon was deemed best if you listened to it on the radio whereas JKF trounced him if you watched it on TV.

I am going to start subscribing to the Nick Clegg method of work, the 'I agree with everyone without blinking' method. I believe that it will eventually catch on as the management strategy of the future.

PS the BBC had the best set for the live debate. Followed by Sky. ITV were the WORST set designers in history and should be ashamed of themselves.
