World of Warcraft
Re: World of Warcraft
I would absolutely hate to be the guy tasked with balancing out all the gameplay mechanics...

Re: World of Warcraft
I thought it was more about what power you could achieve more than the game balance!

Re: World of Warcraft
Well, that's the aim for the players. Unfortunately what happens is that poorly made changes ruin the game for people if it unbalances a certain character class, as it's a fairly complex series of intereactions. Controlling inflation is also an issue in virtual economies. There's that saying about being able to please all of the people some of the time that rings true for WoW... and the rest whine incessantly on the developer forums.

Re: World of Warcraft
World of Warcraft is good, I play it a lot, But EA are bringing out a new game simular to WoW, it is called Warhammer Online Age Of Reckoning, called WAR for short, it looks good but I don't know the price of it,
Re: World of Warcraft
Well, EA are one of the few companies who have the financial clout to compete: they'll need to match WoW on price, and have a pretty slick product. The Warhammer universe has a major fanbase and established setting, so that should work in their favour.

Re: World of Warcraft
They have to compete with the people who have devoted years to that game. Their emotively attached to the game and are therefore unlikely to switch!

Shiny, shiny trailer. The rendering and models are ace, doing work on that must've been cool (plus looks great on any CV). It still won't persuade me to play the game though...

Re: World of Warcraft
After playing a demo for a couple of months I would not be bothered to play the full game either. It is just too expensive to pay £30 for the game and then £10 per month. That is a game that is going to cost you over £150 per year, every year and to be honest I have better things to do with my time.

Wrath of the Lich King has been launched today. People have been queueing all night to get one of the first copies. Dedication man.

Re: World of Warcraft
When you pay £120 a year, I'm sure you'd be dedicated especially once you'd built up a high-level character. Sanj would be pleased to hear they now have a "Death Knight" class as well!

Re: World of Warcraft
Gold Farming in WoW reaches a new hight as WoW7Gold makes $1m profit in a years worth of trading by asking young gamers to play 10 hours a day, all but 1 day a-week and provides dirty, cramped offices and living acommodation. . . shocking? Well the person in link 1 says not. After all, (acording to him) you don't think about the low wages and poor living conditions of the farmer who produces your coffee do you. . . . ?
