The Great CMS Experiment

Post by Mike »

Hello everyone

I haven't been posting for a while but I have been slowly working in the background to update my website away from iWeb to an online content management system. iweb was a very good bit of software published by Apple. It has been slowly being phased out for a couple of years. Therefore it has becoming more difficult to keep my website up to date.

After a couple of tries I have settled on wordpress to power the site. A very good theme has been picked which will hopefully keep everything organised.

Today I have launched the travel, weddings and events sections of the site. Architecture and About have been live for a while. More content will be 'restored' to the new site as I find the time.

I hope that you enjoy reading the posts and looking at the photographs,

Happy reading

Mike

12 photography sections have been restored including two new previously unseen galleries!

6 architectural projects have been restored to include most of my work at BDP, some university work and a bit of work from Arca.

Enjoy!

I am also in the process of updating the back end stuff to later versions. The version of php has now increased to v7.0 hopefully bringing with it more security enhancements and speed bumps. Enjoy this tech geek announcement!

Haha - I should have looked into php v7.0 a bit more. It isn't compatible with the PHPBB3 software. Thankfully it is pretty easy to downgrade it again. I also was lucky that the forum is on a separate sub-domain so I can run a newer php version on the main website.

Anyway. We are now upgraded to version 3.1.18!

Let me know if you find any bugs.
