Windows ME Issue

Hello all,

Can anyone throw any light on why Windows ME would suddenly force the c:/windows/temp file to be read only?

I ask because this has caused a programme to stop working because it could not write temp files to the directory.

FYI:
A I tried changing the properties of the folder so 'Read Only' box was unchecked. When the properties box was closed and reopened the 'Read Only' box was reticked.
B Eventually I renamed the c:/windows/temp file to ...temp2 and then created a new folder called .....temp. This solved the problem but I am afraid I have not tackled the cause of the problem and it may reoccur.

If anyone has any clues could you please let me know.

Mike

I'm running Me, but don't look at me, man. It's just freaky, or some kind of virus protecting itself. Most puzzling. *strokes goat vigourously*
