A question for non architects . . . .

Have you ever noticed or hear off a famous Architect? If so who?
I was wondering if any non architect picks up on these so called super architects and knows their names or any of their projects.
Any architect will do, one that is dead, one that is alive etc.

I take it I get ruled out of replying to this? I wouldn't exactly be an unbiased sample.

I think you could be described as knowing a lot more than the average non architect.

However, reply if you wish. You have, afterall, seen sense and escaped. :D

What about that guy who designed the Gerkin in London...what's his name...anyway, kudos to a man who can make a country pleased with the fact he has graced the nation's catpitol with an enormous dildo.

Louis Kahn - I have a picture of the Salk Institute as my desktop, having seen "My Architect" and to me the buildings we saw in the film were timeless, serene, and monumentally impressive. I really love the courtyard where the water runs to meet the sky at the Salk Institute. It feels really spiritual and elemental and ancient.

Interesting if you like that building and also spaces with a similar sort of feel you should try and look at Tadao Ando's work. I think you will like the ecclesicastical buildings he has designed.

That's the one I found too, goooogling. You're spot on, I really like them. It's that same sense of space, and pure elements and shapes and... I don't know the right terms but I hope what I'm saying makes some kind of sense...

I don't know if he is an architect or not, but the influence Gaudi has had on Barcelona is stunning. I felt awe-inspired when I was gazing at his cathedral over Easter. I also kept on noticing little pieces of architecture on random buildings that made them extremely unique. The guy is a genius for me!

Gaudi...oh hell yeah! I don't think anyone really dislikes his buildings that I've met. All round funky stuff.
