Possible chat room?

Post by Andy »

I have just noticed that at this exact time I am registered along with another user. Now here is my thinking - wouldn't it be a good idea to be able to chat to that person in the style of MSN on the site? (Presuming that both parties wanted to speak to each other of course!). We have private messages but the banter that you get from an MSN chat is much better.

I personally think the communication is excellent on the site anyway, but this feature could be used to discuss 'best venue for d 'n' d on a wednesday night', or just a basic standard moan at the end of the working day.

I don't know if it was possible but it is a suggestion. Please let me know what you think.

I was going to say something like "why not get MSN?", but it did occur to me that that involves giving out your email address. Don't know how easy something like that is to implement, though. I have seen it done, however.

I think that most chat rooms are Java scripted applications. My hosting service does supply this service (well, I don't pay for it!) so I am afraid that MSN is our best option at the moment - or skype. 8)

Fair enough, it was just a suggestion. In conclusion, MSN would appear to be the best solution.

i like the idea but have to agree with the general sentiments above, although on saying that i haven't spoken to anyone using msn for ages and even the last time it was just to say i couldn't stop to talk because i was too tired!
I came, I saw, I bought the T-shirt

That is a very valid point Fez, I confess to having done that on a number of occasions.

Although it is only a basic java application, I have a chat room on my site. Since everyone I talk to over the internet is either on MSN or forums, it gets very few visitors. I haven't noticed any yet at least.

So your all welcome to use that if you like. 8)
