Piracy is a crime - but a funny one

I shall explain. Acording to this blog the cost of piracy in ONE month is five times greater than the GDP of FRANCE!

Now does this mean that piracy is rife? OR
Companies would have us believe it is rife? OR
France is really poor?

It means that the article you've linked to is deliberately taking the piss out of the RIAA's $150,000 damages per infringement figure. Christ knows where they pulled that one from.

The place designated 'Thin Air' Each infringement costs them, MAX, the price of a cinema ticket and a price of a DVD copy, so lets be generous and say ?30. . . .

This assumes that without the pirate copy the miscreant purchaser would have both gone to the cinema and bought a DVD. That is probably highly unlikely.

Hello! You must be sure to pronounce it "poiracy" in the future, Mr Mike. In fact, the best thing is to say the whole bit at the beginning of your DVD is a comedy west country accent
