I have not see it yet. I am tempted though because I have a free cinema ticket burning a hole in my pocket. Whether I do or not will obviously be based on your review. . . . :D

3S

Not great - it seemed that Halle Berry's demands for more time on screen had their effect. You saw Storm more, but she had no actual story and no character. The focus kept switching around, the tension was pretty poor (probably because the pace was ridiculously fast, with no story construction or character development). Characters disappeared for the movie then popped back in, new ones were tossed in with no actual impact, all in all a bit pants! Those are just the bad bits, though. It was still watchable and entertaining for the most part - just wished the trilogy could have ended better. You got the feeling it was very different from the movie they originally planned to make.

You gotta hate it when they screw up a film that is so anticipated. Is it worth a sight on the big screen like MI 3 or is it a rent on DVD fodder?

but third installments to a franchise are never much cop. the only decent one i can think of is alien 3, but the fourth one was awful.

I agree with Kirsty-pie.
3S

On a side note did anyone else think of a better way to end the film? I don't want to give the ending away but there was a much better solution to their problem.

Also I think that the obvious continuity errors were very funny. Wolverine gets stabed at one point leaving two holes in his white vest top with dried blood around the perimeter of the holes. In the next scene he is running through the wood with a clean and whole vest!

I agree with the other ratings: average. It's standard action film fodder, entertaining at the time, but mostly forgettable, except for some of the special effects for a certain someone, which looked cool and freaked me out a bit.

Mike, I knew Wolverine could self-heal, but I didn't think that extended to his clothing as well. Saves on their clothing repair bills, though. And I guessed the ending because of the frigging obvious give-away line they dropped in, how pants is that?

Good, entertaining enough. But as others have alluded to, serious lack of characterisation. liked it in the same way i like MI3: reasonable pace, good SFX, fun and (inadvertently?) funny in places.

I have now watched X-Men and X-Men 2, these films go some way to explain why certain things happen in X-Men 3. It does not improve my rating but it did shed some light.

In summary X-Men was an interesting film and seems to have been written with X-Men 2 already in the pipeline. I know they were directed by the same person so it might explain the almost consecutive flow of the story.

I would rate X-Men 3S and
X-Men 2 with 3S.

They are average films but they are entertaining and will pass an afternoon nicely. :D
