when jake (john belushi) is released from jail he finds his brother elwood (dan ackroyd) waiting for him and little else. their band has fallen apart since jake's arrest, the orphanage they grew up in is threatened with closer and jake's ex-wife is hunting him down. believing they are on a mission from god to save the orphanage after seeing james brown preach at a local church, they start to put the band back together for a benefitt show...
where to start? i love this film, the funny bits are hilarious, the car chases chaotic and destructive (ever seen a police chase through a shopping centre?), and the music is awesome - james brown, aretha franklin, ray charles. my god what more do you want from a film? carrie fisher as the physcotic ex-wife ex-wife? yes, it has that too.

I saw this film for the first time ever the other day. I was really impressed with the insane level of destruction caused by the Blues Brothers. That clapped out old police car was an amazing piece of equipment, especially when it jumps the raised bridge.
All in all I would say deffo behaviour - The nun scared me lots though. . . .

I lurve this movie
This movie totally rocks! and there are several fab cameos throughout.
This police chase through the mall is absolutely quality and the building was abandoned previously and redressed for the purpose of its destruction in the movie. I'm not sure if its still the case but at one point it was the most expensive chase in movie history-and well worth it!
On a mission from God with a destructive

The way Dan Akroyd says 'We're on a mission from God' reminds me of Tenacious D 'I believe in God' phrase on their album. . . . very surreal.
