in this superbly shot film, martin sheen is a remorseless young man who flees his home with sissy spaceck after he had shot her father for trying to stop them seeing each other. as they go on the run, sheen guns down pretty much everyone they come across as they hide from the police attempting to escape to somewhere beyond the mountains of montana. sheen is wonderfully charismatic as the young killer kit, but spaceck's narration does get a little grating as his young girlfriend - interesting to note this film is based on real events in texas during 1958.
