the central character is a driver for numerous criminal groups who need his services, and he moves with a fluid well-planned style that means every job is perfectly executed. the ex-commando adheres to several rules that allow him to get his job done so well, but when he breaks rule three 'looking in the package', things begin to unravel. the cargo is a girl involved with a human-traffic gang, and as the driver gets deeper into the deal everything in his precise world gets blown up, shot at or otherwise destroyed.
it starts off really well, an interesting crime caper in the gorgeous surroundings of monaco, but when the film enters the final quarter it gets confused between crime and james bond, and the end isn't the explosive finale the director would have wanted but a so-so action-flick bang-bang ending that undoes all the opening's promise.
