The Dalek in that clip also seemed to have a retro military-green paint job as well. Nice.

Watched it last night, was actually quite good. The new doctors always take a bit of getting used to, especially as I really liked David Tennant in the role. The new one... maybe seemed a little too cocky/annoying, but hey. Will catch the next episode if I can.

Not sure what all the "OMG SKIRT!" fuss was about. It's a young woman in a skirt, it's not like there were lingering shots of her arse or up-skirt shots (much to some people's disappointment, I'm sure).

The second episode was good too. The space whale story was slightly simplistic but fun. The Doctor was settling in well and the assistant Pond was good too. All in all good vibes from the new series.

Yeah, I liked it too. I liked the idea and the concept for next week's episode looks good, I just hope it isn't anti-climatic.

Return of the weeping angels = win. Was really impressed with those last two episodes. Missed the Winston Churchill one though.

I'm also warming to the new Doctor, and still not sure what all the fuss was over his new assistant sexing up the role too much. It's really not happened. Oh, except for the end of the weeping angels two-parter, forgot about that.

Well, episode 11 has been and gone, and it's into what looks to be a two-parter for the finale.

Liking it very much so far, very little of the doom-and-gloom undertones of the last series about how fragile and generally mortal us humans are.

That last episode was good. I enjoyed the Tardis being unable to land storyline. The two part finale will be ace. I honestly don't know what we are going to be watching from now on. Glee, House, Dexter and Doctor Who are all coming to an end! At least the IT Crowd will be on the TV again from the 25 June. Honestly, you all need to watch The IT Crowd. It is comic genius!

The new 2011 season of Doctor Who is written by the famous fantasy author Neil Gamon. I was surprised and impressed that they managed to pull in such a big star as a writer. The quality of story telling on film us slightly different to books but the first episode was impressive and showed amazing promise. Roll on next Saturday for episode number 2.

What did everyone else think about episode 1. I was stunned at their opening story telling gambit!

There's no denying it was a fine episode, part paid for by American money and simultaneously shown here and in the USA. It was very compelling and a great start to the new series.

I only wonder what the Americans will make of it. I don't know how Doctor Who savvy they are in general, but it will be interesting to see if they take it to their hearts in a major way. Hopefully they will have been shown the other episodes first that led up to this point, otherwise in isolation Saturday's episode might be a bit confusing!

I liked The Silence, based, as we know, on "The Scream" a most famous painting.

I knew there would be a downside to going to Mull this weekend. To the iPlayer!

Never a downside to a holiday! Partly due to the superness of iplayer and Sky+ it must be said. ;-)
