Christopher Eccleston Quits as Doctor Who

First of all, What a jip.

The guy apparently begs to be part of the legend (so the papers say) and now quits after 1 series in case he becomes type-cast. Talk about sillyness. I think Alan Alda could have been described as type-cast after spending more than 10 years on the set of M*A*S*H but not Chris Ecc!

I hope the next Doctor Who is as interesting and will keep with the programme!!!!

One the same topic who do you think the next Doctor Who should be?

I would love to see Richard E Grant as next Doctor Who - the webcasts were ace. For those who have not seen them visit the Doctor Who Webcast pages on BBC.

Is it possible to be typecast as an eccentric time travelling alien? Can't imagine there are actually that many jobs on offer out in the world of television and film - Mr Ecclestone you may have played Jesus in the Second Coming, but nobody would suspect you to be the son of god either.

As for the next new Doctor, assuming there will be another series which is hard to gauge after only one episode of the new session, word has it that the favourite is the guy who recently played Casanova in the BBC Three series of the same name. Can't remember his name, but from what I saw of the beeb 3 show he certainly has the eccentric humour and charm to pull it off.

As for Mr Ecclestone, sad to see him call it a day already, but hey-ho I wont lose any sleep over it, and can still sit back and watch the next twelve episodes of this incarnation of the Doctor and enjoy it as much as I would have without this surprising bit of news.

The next series has already been comissioned and the BBC Wales team are currently setting up the film sets for series 2.
