A History of Violence

Post by Mike »

Tom Stall is an average small town cafe owner. He has a beautiful wife and two children and lives a quite life. When he happens to thwart a violent robbery he becomes a local hero but unlocks his violent past. . . . .

I would say this film was worth watching and would give it
3S

Three stars? Pah, I scorn three stars! *scorns three stars*

Seriously, it appears there are a whole load of films more worthy than this if it only gets three stars. I like my films to change my outlook on life if possible, or just be astoundingly, breath-takingly beautiful. Not much to ask, I know.

I disagree with you here - I thought that this film was really good and I mean REALLY good. I thought it was very well delivered and a good plot unravelled well. One thing that was particularly refreshing about this was that the action scenes were genuinely sickening - I ain't usually squeamish about a film but this one made me squeam quite a lot and in a perverse way I enjoyed that aspect.

My only quibble is that I thought the bit about his brother being what he was rather far-fetching but yet, it could happen.

I would give it
4S
Not an out-and-out classic but worth viewing when it appears on T.V.
