Smart Homes

In Korea. See This article.

I think it very amusing that we are not considering homes at this level let. Let them get the bugs ironed out of the system eh?

I can imagine one issue: "OMG! My house has been hacked!" No system I've heard of can resist anyone with the right skill and hardware. And imagine if the software goes mental and starts turning stuff on and off at random. They do have some kind of manual over-ride, I hope?

Not amusing at all, but totally scary. Take the logic of this to its possible conclusion, and be very afraid...

you get locked in your own bedroom unable to escape while the automated vacuum cleaner tries to sodomise you.

It would be a real pain to get home and on the doors control panel it says

The server is located in the front room. All services have been suspended and the house secured until the reset button is pressed.

surely a powercut would screw up the system too; total black out, a fire starts and none of the doors will open...

Don't be stupid Mike, you can just re-set the home by pressing Conservatory, Atrium and Doorbell at the same time...

I reckon that the doors would probably default to a safety position if the power was cut (i.e unlocked) but on the brightside would reduce the number of tools a burgalar would need to 1 pair of wire snips.

Good news for mike cos less fingerprints.
