I am playing in a five aside football competition tomorrow. There is a charity involved which makes it all very interesting. In the first group stage we will be playing 10 minute matches and will hopefully do well in our group.

Training: Nil,
Regular football players: 3. . . . not a good start! :D

Just to let you all know. Supporter attendance is a-okay! Hope to see some of you there.

Hiya All

I have finished the competition now. We managed to get through the group stage to the Quarter Finals which is pretty impressive since we have only ever played football together today!

We managed to:
win 2 matches
draw 1 match
lose 1 match in the group stage

Obviously we lost the quarter finals too! Sort of luckily the weather had turned nasty near the end so we went inside for a beer after loosing the Quarters.

Injuries?
1 bleeding toe,
1 sore wrist (which is a bit worrying as I will struggle to draw with a knackered wrist!) Some rather rude person managed to trip me and sent me flying - b******d
1 pair of aching legs. Which I am sure is more to do with the lack of exercise rather than an actually injury!

All in all good fun. Had the supporters team up to six persons which was good :D

In fairness, you lost to teams that had obviously played together and practiced regularly, so you guys rocked. At the end of the day, the charity gets its entry fee whatever happens. Was their actually a prize as such for winning?

It was a good (if cold and windy) way to spend my Sunday afternoon! I was more than impressed by the quality of the Arca team, including you Mike.

As for the supporters club, next time we'll have chants prepared.

I can think of a few chants for that shouty guy, he came across as a bit of a mentalist.

My apologies

My apologies for non-attendance, I thought I had a very delayed hangover from Friday night but it turns out it was the starting of a b*tch of a cold as I sit here with a bin full of tissue
Alas I fear pub quiz is an unlikely prospect, but I shall send you positive thoughts! sent them on Sunday and look how well you did, very impressive Mr Riley

I am sorry to hear about your cold! I hope it gets better soon. Given the soaking I got getting the train this morning I may also have a cold soon. . . . I literally got soaked to the skin. Through the winter coat, hat, gloves, shoes and even trousers. . . .

:( Well aren't we a healthy bunch? I too have the beginnings of a cold, although I hope that I read the symptoms early enough to have prevented a really nasty one...fingers crossed!

Get well soon Chrissie.

Gloomy, gloomy. Something tells me I had better get a waterproof coat pretty soon. Are you sure that's a winter coat you've got, Mike? On the plus side, at least it didnt happen whilst you were in your shorts on Sunday. To summarise:

Mike: don't get ill!
Al: don't get any more ill!
Chrissie: get less ill soon!

Five Aid 2 was this weekend (just gone) the same venue with a similar team, there were 5 Arca players and two subs which was great. This time we managed to win 2 and lose 2 in the group stage and then get to the Semi Finals.

Eventually we came fourth in the tournament and lost out on some prize beer by losing the 3rd place playoffs. . . . . Damn. If we had known beer was on the cards we would have played harder.

It was good fun and this time the only injuries I came out of the tournament was with skinned knees and sore ribs. The sore ribs came from an unlikely incident involving someone's shoulder and my chest. . . .  :D

Damn, if I'd known you were playing I could've got my pom-poms out and come along. Glad you did pretty well, not so glad about the injuries. At least it's all for a good cause.

I am stupid and get daft injuries, more intelligent players just come out with scrapes and bruises. :D

We'll turn you into a footballer yet Mike! You've got to start using your elbows more! ;)
