That would be extremely cool to have. I wonder how much that costs for it to look as good as it does - probably a lot of wonga

I'd like one, although I think my landlord would object if I had one here. Don't know what I'd put in it, though. Do remind me to get one that doesn't lock you in, as the article covers. I like the knock code thingy, though, very "secret society".

5000-25000? that aint a bad price if you were considering it to be fair - especially if you were fairly rich and had a way cool house that you just wanted to make cooler!

The main thing about these would be to have a house big enough that hiding a room would not be too obvious. I think it would be to smegging obvious in my terrace! :D

My grandparents old house would have been a good candidate. I am sure that one room could have been sealed off with no problem at all. I think that I would have chosen either a room in the basement or the little bedroom between the kitchen and bathroom on the first floor.

As I started to read your post I was thinking about the same room. It could easily have been done.

But even in our little semi how about the darkroom? It already is almost a secret room and wouldn't need too much work to finish the job.

Yours of this will be available to interested parties next time the Happy Dungeoneers descend upon us...

I have nowhere unless I was to extend sidewards.

My parents' house was rennovated about 5 years ago when they stuck a kitchen on the back and turned the then kitchen into a dining room and the then dining room into another lounge. This didn't make it ''secret'' or give it potential to be secret but it did make it secluded which is a nice idea.

If I had my way (and a lot of money), I'd have a full Bond-villian underground lair with monorail transport. To Edgeley. To Didsbury. And beyond! Might need planning permission, though.

Your grandparents old house sounds pretty neat, all it needed was a second basement level to make it really out there.

In fact, how many basement levels could a residential house feasibly have? Any architects in here?

Depends on how much money you wanted to throw at it I suppose. On a side note, I don't think that a bond villain would actually care about the intricacies of the local planning authority!

The house was very cool, but rather too large and more than a little in need of tlc. They even had a bomb shelter in the basement (which was about the same size as Chris and Claire's flat! ). I think it would have been a really daft place to have a shelter to be honest. If the house fell on top of you what was the point in surviving? It would probably just prolong the inevitable.
