This is my WOW celebrity spot of 2006. I was well amazed at this one. We saw a tricksy hobbit when we went to the last Pub Quiz of 2006. Yes a hobbit who was also in Lost. . . . . Dominic Monaghan!
Totally amazed. I spotted him standing behind me in the queue at the bar and initially thought he was a look alike until I heard him speaking to his mates. Lizzie and I were totally clocked staring but I don't care, how often do you see a seriously cool celeb like that in the pub! We were like total star struck peops, but we avoided the embarrassment of a LOST team name (unlike another team who could not resist but the quiz mistress really messed up Mr Echo's name!

).
Oh and talking of PQ we managed to come second which was pretty good 34 out of 40 with the first place team members coming in at 35 out of 40. What a cool way to round up the celeb spotting of 2006.

:D

even i know who this is, though i must admit if i'd have been there it would only have caused a moment's distraction from more important things like drinking. if it had been one of the more important LOTR cast members i might gawped at them for a bit - liv tyler, mmmmmm :D

Unfortunately, as much as I would like to think I wouldn't, I just feel I would have had to gone up to him and said
''I like just pippin in for a pint, don't you?''
OR
''This place is great if you're Lost because they will always wish you a Merry christmas.''
The likely hood is he would probably have hit me.

I must concur that this was a superb celeb spotting moment.
The most embarrassing bit was when Mike pointed him out to me and one of his friends ironically waved across the pub at us...

??? You don't!
This is a link to his IMDB biography. He was Merry in LoTR which is his most prestigious film. However, I think that he is most recognisable for his part in LOST as Charlie. I have attached
here a photo for your perusal.

I'm not normally one to tell tales, but Mike was the one who was staring most!

That is because I managed to SPOT him. I almost never spot famous people!

Mike, did Al gawp with a moronic expression on his face whilst staring into the distance, suddenly focus and then go ''oh yeah'' in a really suprised tone of voice?
Al, did Mike suddenly exhibit extreme excitement on his face, get a little jumpy in his actions and exclaim excitedly ''Look, Look, it's that bloke from Lost''?

Al just looked over his shoulder calmly and went 'Yes Mike, Very nice' and went back to his beer as though celeb spotting was an everyday experience!

but for some of us it is - i go into the bathroom every morning and there's always this stunningly handsome chap looking back at me from the bathroom mirror. no idea who it is but he seems to be in there everytime i need to take a whiz as well.

I think I would have had to restrain myself from accosting him outside the pub and mugging him for his mobile phone. that would be AMAAAAZING...think about it: Viggo Mortensen, Orlando Bloom, Matthew Fox...Even Sean Bean. Come to think of it, perhaps it's best i wasn't there!

I think that gets my "most bizarre mental image of 2006" award, Claire. Unfortunately there's no prize money or trophy, just the dubious honour.

Oh, John. the prize would be getting the phone, Silly!
