I've got 18gb on my player at the moment...I tend to put new albums I buy on straightaway so I can listen at work. There is probably some stuff on their that I could get rid of though...it does look pretty!

I may wait till after Christmas when I'm close to getting a flat with a phone line so that I can make proper use of iTunes (plus the price may have come down!)

iTouch iPod has been shipped without the OS which seems to indicate that Bluetooth has been disabled which is interesting. Will see what they are intending to do with that one!

The iPhone is going to be released on November 9 2007. There are several interesting items to note in the launch though. In terms of excitement factor I am unfortunately on the lower end of the scale!

There are some Pro's and some Con's.

Pros
- You get a really cool bit of kit with Wireless (7500 free minutes), total connectivity with apple products etc.

Cons
- You are paying through the nose for an 8gb model (16gb not available yet) £269.00 (or about $540).
- The US price is abbout $399 (or about £200.00) for a 16gb model. The price don't let us forget dropped $200 in the first 2 months. . . .
- It only works on Edge networks (slower than 3G)
- Its on O2 probably the most insignificant network in the UK
- AND FINALLY - a big upgrade is planned for the first quarter of 2008. Here is one person who will NOT be buying an iPhone on 9 November.

Ouch! Seems like Apple don't want much market share in the UK just yet then! Do they think we're gullible or something?

Think I'll stick with whatever Sony Ericsson phone that 3 have sent me...

I'm still tempted by the iTouch iPod though...any news on whether we're going to get a raw deal on that as well?

That seems to be totally above board. In fact it is a much better deal than the iPhone. The wireless browsing is an amazing feature which would make it much easier for me to use my wifi minutes!

I was playing with one of these in the O2 shop in Manchester the other day and overheard a moron sales assistant saying to another customer '2G and 3G are really the same thing - there is not really a drop of in speed or anything like that' - I don't know about you but I think that is rather misleading and must contribute to mis-selling. :!:

I suppose it depends whether the shop assistant was deliberately lying to the customer or whether he was just as thick as pigs muck. Either way, the 02 shop need to train their staff better.

When I worked at Currys, I frequently knew more about the computers, hi-fi equipment and personal audio stuff than most of the permanent staff...that was when I was 16!

In Germany vodaphone have successfully challenged the fact that T Mobile lock the iphone onto their network only and have forced the manufacturer to sell unlocked versions that can be used on any network. Apparently it breaches some EU legislation. Orange are also being forced to do the same thing in France. This is really good for us in the UK because we will not be able to buy a local unlocked version and pop an orange sim in it.

It would be even better if the company would pursue the UK legal system too but we don't have a provision to make it worth their while . . . doh. Stupid law thinggie - that one needs changing pretty quick for all us 'apple fanboys' out there.

How can it not be worth their while to challenge it? Maybe it's a sign that the other phone companies here in the UK just don't feel the market for the iPhone is worth it. Seems bizarre either way.

Not worth it because they do not have much of a chance of winning the court case. It would be money for nothing. . . .

They have now hacked the iPod Touch mp3 player to accept an audio input. This will open the way for skype to be activated on the ipod and for you to make calls for free in wireless hotspot areas. :D

Not entirely sure they should be encouraging calling anyone whilst driving, but it'll certainly save taking a load of cds with you on every journey.

I have also seen a iTouch with VoiP calling (ie skype!) Now that is pretty cool when you have a powerful wi-fi network.
