Has now hit the shelves. I have no idea how I missed the build up for this one. I bet it will not play on my computer any more and that is rather gutting but I would love to own it. I will have to wait for pay day though before I tempt myself to buy!

I have checked the minimum specs and my graphics card is too old. . . . bummer. I will not be playing this game any time soon. It looks the business though! :D

I have managed to have a go on this game now. It does work on the Laptop - it can be painfully slow with audio visual problems due to the newer but lower specification machine. The visuals are only average due to this problem too.

All in all the first three acts (prologue, Act 1 and Act 2) are ridiculously easy with Act 3 becoming more of a pain. That said it only took two attempts to finish the first mission of act 3 and I have only tried the second mission twice so far.

The second mission of act 3 has no base so it can be quite tricky to move your troops around the map in good order.

All in all I would rate this one 3S it will be average but no where near as good or captivating as Generals.

Command and Conquer 3: Red Alert is out in the shops now. Unfortunately it does not support Mac! Bugger, this is the one franchise that I have loved ever since my dad called in 'Morally Reprehensible'. The irony being if he had not commented I would have probably become bored with rolling around in a mass of tanks shooting civillians. . . . . ;-)

Well, my computer's totally failing on the processor (multiple cores... maybe no) and graphics card aspect. Ho hum. I'm liking the units and artwork though.

The official site's worth checking out, if only for the trailers starring everyone's favourite Hoff.

Will be released on Mac on 27 March 2009 which is in two days. I have pre-ordered from Amazon and hope to get it the same day / Monday. It will be interesting to see if I ever get to play the game but by golly by gosh I will try.

The article I read on Mac World suggested it had been released on Mac on 23 March 2009 which would have been amazing. Two great events on one single day? I knew it was too much to ask.

Red Alert 3 has now been purchased and intermitently played between baby crying and playtimes and washing up and cleaning! So far it is a rather strange experience. The resolution is currently set quite low for the size of screen on the mac and everything appears rather 'blocky' and clumbsy. In terms of the gameplay I don't really see so far any great advances in how the game play with the exception of a couple of notables below.

Air to Air combat There are now units that can engage in aerial combat, the planes are rather unconvincing as they hover in space much like helicopters when defending. It would have been better for them to auto-waypoint in the area to give a better impression of realism! The double heigh gaming also makes it rather difficult to manage a large assault because people are literally sitting on top of each other!

Second abilities Each unit has a secondary ability that can be engaged to fight specific threats. I particularly liked the bullfrog that is an amphibious transport that canons the troops out of a funnel on the roof. They they parachute into the designated area. It was quite fun to see that happen!

The missions are quite fun thus far, they have been relatively easy but this is the first campaign and therefore the one that is designed to ease you into the game. The Empire of the Rising Sun faction do seem to have a massive disadvantage because you have to build buildings in the MCV and then move and uppack them on the battlefield! Eek. Though the advantage is a war factory and base defences could be made and uppacked anywhere on the map to serve as a forward base!

4s though this may be open to review!

Red Alert is coming to the iPone on 23 October 2009! Ace. Now all I need is some spare cash to buy it. I guess it could be another command and conquer disapointment from EA though!
