Heeeee heeee heeeee! Squeals of rapture and delight.

Sat on my comfy sofa, watching James Martin, having a cuppa, bemoaning the need to buy a lawnmower and looking in my local Stockport rag for a plumber to fix my gammy radiator, i stumbled upon an advert for a text and win competition.

i duly checked my balance to see if i had enough credit for the £1.50 needed to enter the competition to win 2 VIP hospitality tickets for England Saxons Vs US Eagles on friday at Edgeley Park. I thought ha ha, in for a penny in for a pound fifty and i promptly told them i knew only too well that Robinson is due to captain the upcoming south africa tour. and i scoffed "no chance!"

Welllllllllllllllllllll!

One had a text message beeping in one's bag when one got out of one's department meeting at twenty to 5 this evening. I WON! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D Bar....three course dinner....VIP match tickets....chance to mingle with the players after! and another
Yeah, be alright, i s'pose. christine objected, but eventually i persuaded her to join me.

i never win anything!!! apart from a troll with orange hair at the saint bernadette's church summer fair when i was ten. oh, and a signed robbie print. but that's it, ever!

You made me chuckle: your delight comes across beautifully. I'm sure you'll both enjoy the mingling, but tell me: how on earth did you manage to persuade Christine to go along?

Wow, congrats with that one. The prize is pretty cool it must be said. Like mr_e I don't know how you managed to convince the avid rugby fan to join you, it must have taken lots of milliseconds of work.

And yes you are rather jammy! :D

Congratulations, I never win anything either so maybe there is some hope after all...

You are pretty jammy though! :)

I wonder how many entrants they had, not to rain on your parade that is! On another interesting note, have you seen that EVERYONE up to this point has chosen the top YES of the two provided. . . . . I bet some people will chose the bottom one now just to be different. :P

Judging by your voice at PQ last night, it seems to be catching! ;)

I'm sub-sonic or hypo-sonic now, Al. My voice is worse. :( Not good when you talk for a living. Having said that my classes were all very good for me. :) including year 11 who - to their great credit - worked in silence for about 45 mins this morning. in general, they're a bit manic so near to leaving but they did me proud today!

Is is laryngitis or pharyngitis when your voice goes? i've got no trace of a sore throat. :?

Pharyngitis is supposed to hurt, so possibly laryngitis, which I don't think is infectious either. Good to hear the silence is spreading to your classes as well.

And remember, it's not proper mingling unless you come back with restraining orders (telephone numbers written on your body optional). Nah, I'm sure you'll be very well-behaved...but then again, why waste a good evening?

Remember well behaved women never made history. . . . I believe it is a motto to live by!

No I just find it entertaining to meet badly behaved women. . . . I can suggest a method of living without having to do it myself. I hope. . . .

Mission accomplished...mingling a-go-go!

England Saxons thrashed, absolutely thrashed the US amateurs!!! i think it was 51-3 in the end!

Platinum seats were extremely lush :) and had extra special padding! The dinner was lovely: this salmon mouse thing with "gently rested" watercress salad; roast duck for the main cooked to perfection; and passionfruit cheesecake for pudding. And, me and Christine might have had a guzzle(bottle) of wine or two! We had a fab time. :D

We got free programmes and this really cool guide to rugby. we've got Andrew Sheridan's autograph and had our photo with him! Also got Wiggy's autograph but not personally, more's the pity!

The England players went fairly early after the MOTM presentation but the US guys hung around. so, we just took our programmes and went and sat with them and got them to sign their pictures in it!!!

There were some really cool people on our table who were a good laugh but you know, there were two unoccupied seats that hadn't been claimed by the winner?! A missed opportunity...it was excellent! :D :D :D :D :D
