F1 Champion 2006?

It would be interesting to see what would happen if Massa 'accidentally' took Alsonso out of the race and Schumi won. How would they be able to prove that it was not an accident? How could you punish Schumi for the actions of his team mate?

It would be a horrific day for the sport if that happens. . .

I don't necessarily think it would be horrific because it is just another case of cheating/bending the rules in the sport. What would happen though is that there would be a lot of media coverage and the build-up to next season would revolve around ''Alonso's revenge'' - reclaiming what is rightfully his. A lot of interest would be generated and more write-ups would be done for the newspapers.

Bizarrely but wrongly, in a way, that is a good thing for the sport.

He would never be able to right the wrong because Schumi is retiring, it is his last chance to get another one over him! :D

The title ''Alonso's revenge'' was simply an attempt at a headline that the News of the World or other such tosh would use to attract readers. My point was that the ''predicted crash'' would generate huge media publicity beyond what the sport knows already.

Well that was an amazing race. I really wanted to see Schumi win by some total fluke but it was not to be. How insanely quick was his car? I was amazed after the puncture he came back from 17th to 4th - total hero / man of the day for me. :D

well done to massa for showing us that the season was about more than just two drivers, and would it be out of place to suggest he too could be a world champion in the future?

Massa seemed to really mature during this season, he has been more consistent and I think that you are right, a future champion. Kimi is not going to have an easy ride at Ferrari, he will have to prove his worth.

According to Sportbox, page 480 on ITV's teletext, Massa has stated that he isn't going to be number 2 to anyone anymore and that he and kimi are equal.

I thought it was an exhilerating race from Schumacher and felt quite glad that he did something as memorable as that on his last race - it reaffirmed him for me as a ''living legend'' so to speak - the kind of sports personality that our grandkids will ask us about. In truth, I was gripped by his assault on the pack in front and I reckon with a few extra laps (10?) he could have overtaken Alonso.

As for next years world championship - Massa? Not sure yet. Kimi will challenge I feel. Alonso is the one to beat and will be up there challenging. Button, the jury is still out but his car was phenomeonally fast on Sunday. It promises to be a good one though and one that I am looking forward to - at last, F1 has become interesting again!

next season is already intriging and seems such a shame we will have to wait until march to see the start in melbourne. i see it being much more unpredicatable as to who will be leading from the talent on offer, as the personel moves and team changes will probably take time to iron themselves out.

can alonso at mcclaren carry on his success as surely the team will have to overcome some pretty serious mechanical problems that have dogged them all this year. kimi at ferrari should finally prove what the iceman can do as he hopefully escapes those same mcclaren engine gremlins, and massa should really get a fairer crack of the whip having been with the team longer and not having to play second fiddle anymore. button will need a better car, hell he can have my punto it's more durable than what he's got now, and there's going to be hamilton in the other mcclaren which will give us more british talent to shout for.

and there's more besides, i can't wait for march!

I like the shake up of drivers changing teams. It really brings skill into play, the driver can make a good car unbeatable or v poor!
