Slightly strange one today. For some random reason, Edge Hill's Sporting Edge decided to send me an e-mail newsletter. The really strange this is, I left nearly two years ago (102 weeks in fact!). I also hadn't stepped into the gym for a hell of a long time (a long long long long time in fact).

Anyway, I looked at the ''new'' website that Edge Hill was offering and clicked on Alumni because a bloke I went out on the razz with every Friday in my last year was on the main picture. I was curious, very curious. Anyway, this bloke - Andrew Keogh (nicknamed ''Queenie'' and we probably can guess why!) - had landed himself the role as ''Tubbs'' in the Extraordinary League of Gentlemen stage play. I really wish I had gone to see it now when I had the chance!

The other weird thing is that my mate from halls who I am still in contact with also phoned me to tell me that he was in the new Doc Martin DVD. Cool I thought. He told me to buy it. I asked him how much he was in it. He said three seconds. I refused. He complained. I told him that it wasn't a claim to fame but I'd put it on here. He still complained. Cheeky bugger!

The entire (well pretty much) Liverpool squad from about 1990, very p!ssed outside a bar on the dockside not far from Albert Docks.

Denis Irwin in the MegaStore at Old Trafford.

Sir Anthony Bamford at my dentists. Admitedly it was the JCB on-site dentists. He jumped the queue, but I suppose he was paying my wage!

William Hague, Gail from Coronation Street and Vinny Jones (all at different times) on marketing tours of the JCB factory. Vinny is built like a feckin' brick out-house!!!

Stan Collymore in the Cannock branch of Currys. The word to describe him rhymes with 'Banker'.

Sean and Fizz from Corrie last wednesday walking down the road past Manchester Town Hall.

Pierluigi Collina the football referee, in his hometown (can't quite remember the name). As scary in real-life as on the tv!

Bob Geldof and kids in Florida. We were staying in the same hotel, eating in the same restaurant, swimming in the same pool. Rock 'n' roll!!! :)

That's a pretty impressive list, Monsieur BarcelonAl. Don't know if I've already had this one, but my babysitter at one point was Tony Dobbin, a Grand National winning jockey. Who is frequently in our adopted local back home as well, along with some other decent jockeys whose names I can't remember.

I've actually thought of another one: HRH The Princess Royal (Princess Anne). She also had a tour around the JCB factory and does indeed look like a horse!

Oh, yeah, I forgot, but I have seen Prince Charles pretty close up as well. I can't remember being that excited about it, so I'd buried that one deep in my subconscious mind.

The 'high-profile' celeb visits ended after the previous Marketing Director left. The guy they replaced him with obviously didn't have the right contacts.

I've also seen Peter Beardsly in the Disneyland theme park. He's shorter than you'd think. No less ugly though!

Is that the JCB factory in Rocester BarcelonAl? I'm from near there originally (well, Stone which ain't too far away!). I was always impressed with their attempts to make the area surrounding the factory really nice (lakes, sculptures etc).

That's the one. I agree, they have made a reasonable job of blending a large factory into the environment. Given that it is on the edge of the Peak District, I don't think they had much choice. Pity they didn't make the inside look less like a 1970s office! :(
