SNOW!! It was bitterly cold on the way back from the pub last night. Woke up to 2" of fresh powder (and its still coming down). Bang goes my planned trip to Dundee to see Alex. Just hope Bex can get home from Cannock on Sunday- it took her 3hrs to get as far as Glasgow yesterday. (Normal ETA 45mins!)
I've decided to meet friends, go for a walk and maybe stop in a nice warm pub along the way.

We went to Harome in North Yorkshire today. The main roads and motorways were iffy going, but better coming back. The country lanes around Harome were a nightmare.
Wew had to dig the car out of the carpark and then nurse it onto the road as it wouldn't have made the junction without more digging. What a nightmare!
Well despite heavy snow showers last night, the snow is disappearing from the streets of Edinburgh. Its been (relatively) warm today. My car is completely clear of snow for the first time since before christmas. More snow is predicted for later in the week, and the temperature is forecast to fall below 0'C again... but we'll wait n see what happens. I'm glad I got to go sledging whilst the snow was still around and deep.
Well, our boiler broke down yesterday, and was fixed 24 hours later in the early afternoon. I'm so, so glad it was milder today. Everyone else here is probably glad they weren't back home until today.
The snow is definitely on the wane: most of the snowmen round here are now headless!
BBC forecast for Monday is sleety and looks a lot milder for the rest of the week here. I am not looking forward to Tuesday if the wind does hit 20mph though.
Consistent but very light snowfall up here at work. Seemed to have warmed up in Manchester, there was no need to scrape the windscreen clear this morning!
Nothing says "romance" like a kidnapped injured woman!
We've had light snow for the past 4hrs here now. Thankfully its not sticking- too warm and/or wet I think. For once I'm actually quite glad its not staying, I rode the road bike to work for the first time in a month today... its got NO tread at all and is interesting (or slightly scary) in the wet, let alone snow or ice! I don't really wanna have to walk home.
If it could hold off till dusk then snow REALLY heavily I'd be quite happy.
Local roads around Tyldesley/Atherton are passable with care. There is no sign whatsoever that any gritting took place though, so low temperatures later may cause freezing and very slippy travel....
