Do you like Clutter?

I personally don't. I like things to go away nice a neatly so I don't have to see them. My house is a bit of a mess at the moment and it is disturbing my Zen.

I love clutter, but only neat clutter of course. Books, CDs, videos, DVDs, magazines, cameras, old socks, you name it and it belongs......

Clutter should be cherished and encouraged. It is only when we are totally surrounded by clutter that our environment is complete.

Here's to clutter! :D :D

I went for no clutter, but I tend to keep a happy medium: everything that's used frequently is out and ready, otherwise it's filed away. In an ideal world, at least...

I think that it is important to have a good look at things that you have every so often and analyse whether you need them or not.

Case in point - I have just redecorated my under-the-stairs. This has involved re-plastering, patching up wallpaper, painting, laying laminate down, building a box to house pipes, etc. When it came to putting everything back, me and Rowenna had a good long think about what we actually needed - for some reason we had accumulated 14 pyrex dishes/bowls (parents had given them as presents) so we gave 11 of them to the guy next door for his bring-and-buy sale. Before my redecorating, this area was a minefield, now we can get in it easily.

I also know that I will have to get rid of some of my books soon because the boxroom will not take them anymore.

Therefore, for me, it depends on what the ''clutter'' is. If it is potentially useful or holds sentimental value, then keep it. If it is not, then don't. If it make your life easier by getting rid, them sling it.

How very industrious of you. . . . I am not really sure I will appreciate this decorating lark :D . I think that it does not bode well with Lizzie wanting to 'decorate' :?

I vote no clutter, after a serious cleaning mission on Saturday, the more clutter, the more stuff that gathers dust, the more dusting that needs to be done, the less time to participate in more palatable, fun activities.

Having said that, for those strange beings that enjoy cleaning, bring on the clutter for you guys!

I want to find one of these strage beings you speak off, then I want them to come and clean my house!

Mike, decorating can be fun and enjoyable but it also can be annoying. Having to replaster was extreme but it was only a small area really, about 5foot by 2foot and took me about 1 hour. It would have taken a plasterer about 10 mins and cost me around ?40 though.

I am personally sick of redecorating now and am not looking forward to today or tomorrow when I have to re-paint the front room to get rid of the lurid yellow. Mind you, it is either that or the back garden/jungle

I would take the Jungle any day of the week. Mindless cutting / destruction is just what it needs to become manageable! :D

That's given me a cunning plan to start a cleaning firm consisting entirely of people with mild obsessive-compulsiveness. Chrissie and Mike's Grandma can be my first employees.

Hmm, can't be any worse than my current employment, what would the hours be like? It might appeal to the snoop in me to rummage around in other people's stuff with the cunning cover cleaning story? Could then write an expose/ book on it and make even more money :D

With your meticulous cleaning skills, we could specialise in high-class cleaning, perhaps some kind of cleaning hit-squad for the rich and famous. You'd have to store up all the gossip and sell it all and once, then we liquidate the company. Hours to suit, can't imagine it being full-time, as I'm sure your job isn't quite that bad. Good to see you agree with your obsessive-compulsive label, though.

There is no cutting involved to be quite truthful, it is just massively overgrown weeds - the situation is crazy to tell you the truth - I have already worked on the right hand side of the lawn and it took me three days and two trips to the tip to sort that out!!!!!!

I am considering putting Sodium Cholorite on it and being done with it - it screws up planting for 1year but it is better than doing all that weeding again.
