Re: Snow Watch

Virtually all the snow has now turned into ice mainly due to it being compacted so much. It took me and my dad over an hour to clear his drive :-0 and it was damn hard work. More snow is expected on Sunday - from what I have heard reports range from light sprinkling all day to hard downpour at night...

In nearby Leigh it is the same and you're right, it doesn't feel cold but then again the heating has been on for most of the day. I'm dreading my gas bill....

Re: The New Doctor Who

I loved the Xmas episodes (apart from the last bit and I also thought his last line was a bit naff. Eccleston's was way better),

Not sure on the new Doc but I probably stated that about Tennant. I'll give him time, he'll need it. His assistant looks cute so there is more of a reason to watch it.

Re: Snow Watch

Oh sorry, I must have listened far too much to Rowenna's comments and seen her looks as I proudly announced that it was finished at around 6pm today. To be fair, it's not that great to marvel at unless you've built it!

Re: Snow Watch

Sarcy bugger, I will post them up when a) I know how to on here b) I find the USB attachment cable for camera some time tomorrow. I tried to do it properly, well, as properly as you can do with the materials I had in hand and the country I was in. I used a tray (that you'd probably recognise from pr...

Re: Snow Watch

Still snowing heavily here - I reckon it's been nearly another inch since 11ish.

I've now got a serious urge to make an igloo. I've made a snowman but I want to do something I've never done before

[Edit] And I've just gone and done it. Ray Mears eat your heart out!

Re: Snow Watch

Yes JR, it is indeed a great day for photos.

To amend my previous estimations we are now up to at least six and a half inches here and it's still coming down.

Re: Snow Watch

Well, we've had about 3 inches at least I reckon. It took an age to get rid of the snow from my drive. Row's just been to the petrol station for some supplies and they've told her that the assessors have been out on the A580 because it is so bad and they're thinking of closing it. Apparently, everyo...

Re: Batteries - The Noose Tightens

The ''drive 5 miles less a week'' thing really irritates me. Why they have to impose their views on me in such a smug and omniscient manner is beyond me, they already cheekily tax me for a whole bunch of stuff. I bet they don't drive 5 miles a week less because they'll be able to claim it on expense...

Re: Welcome to 2010

I too offer my good wishes to everyone for a fabulous year. On a slightly profound note, looking back over the last decade, as I did at 11pm last night, it's been action-packed to say the least. Some of us have : gone to uni; bought cars; bought houses; bought random gadgets (if you'd have told me a...

Re: Snow Watch

Oh, if you thought that was bad, trying driving to Durham, going on the M62 over the Pennines. Severe fog, couldn't see more than about 20 feet in front of me, the fast lane out of action, snow coming down, everyone going at about 30mph and I was stuck behind a lorry that was spraying all his slush ...

Re: Snow Watch

Atherton and Leigh and Swinton and Eccles and nearly Trafford are in the midst of a scary blizzard. It is the first time that I have driven in White out conditions where I can't see the road or the lane markings or the car in front. It also has to be the first time that I drove at 20mph on a dual c...

Re: Things Learned Today!

If you wear a padded jacket, a ski hat and a scarf around your mouth due to the bitter cold and decide to wander into Home Bargains at 9.10am and decide to absently loiter around, searching for pot pourri .... you will be followed by a security guard.
