Games Sales

Post by Mike »

We are spending £1.5 billion pounds a year on games! That is an amazing sum. I would be interested to see how that was broken up by console manufacturer and cost per game per manufacturer. I know for example that PS3 games are ridiculously expensive at £50 a pot.

Interestingly Gamestation is running a lot of adverts at the moment dropping Call of Duty 4 to £24.99 (ie half price) which is a surprise. I wonder if they are actually struggling with low christmas sales to prompt this one. I think I remember seeing it was only on the Xbox 360 too which is telling! :-)

I don't just think it is games that are slashing prices. The vast majority of stuff in the high street media industry is being slashed to up to half-price. When you consider that they are still making a profit on it then it quite irritates me how much I have overpaid in the past.

That is a very good point. The other way of looking at it is they are trying to tempt people into the shop to get the game at half price (maybe even cost!) and are desperately hoping that you will buy more whilst you are there!
