Welcome to phpBB3!
Hello everyone,
We have updated to phpBB3 today the first stable release of 'oylmpus'! I hope you enjoy the new set up and don't get too lost. Will be playing with some features in the administration area to make sure everything is working correctly but it seems to be live and stable already!
Let me know what you think.

So far so good, logged on without problems. It's difficult to assess the speed yet as my internet has been excruciatingly slow today.

Seems fine.

Re: Welcome to phpBB3!
I don't know if anyone has ever played with the Who Is Online function at the bottom of the page but it is quite entertaining! It tells me that I am online using an iphone and that others are on Microsoft Internet Explorer. I noticed that Al was using MSIE 6 on one of his visits. Shame on the programmer course for being so out of date!

Re: Welcome to phpBB3!
Two new styles have been installed today and are available to change the look of the forums if you are interested. They are AZ_Retro and ProSilver2. You can change them in the User Control Panel under Board Preferences and 'My board style'.
Might have another go at trying to create my own style. It looks like hard work though for someone who does not know what he is doing!

Re: Welcome to phpBB3!
Please note that the apple_osx theme is a work in progress and should not be selected as I am likely to break more things in that theme than I fix! It is being used as a test at the moment to try and build up some knowledge of how to create a bespoke phpBB theme. It will also be a very slow process, very slow indeed given how long I have already wasted on the project!

If you're doing it for the sake of learning it then that's cool, but you could google "aple os x theme" and save yourself some time if you like... the first result turns up a version that you could maybe look at to see how it's been done.

Re: Welcome to phpBB3!
Found a few but they are not what I would call slick. Want to try and learn, I think I will do a jpeg of how I want the front page to work and go from there in trying to make it work. The only thing I am not sure about is how on earth they manage to get very different graphics out of just amending the css files! There do not seem to be anything other than links and colours specified in the code. Quite daunting task actually which is cool.

Re: Welcome to phpBB3!
Smegging typical. The board has been updated to version 3.0.3 and I have to start all over again. I have not lost too much work (well any really!).

Re: Welcome to phpBB3!
Hello all. I have updated all the forums on my webhosting to have specific database users in an attempt to improve efficiency of the sites. Hopefully you will notice an improvement. If not, oh well, nothing gained, nothing lost!

Re: Welcome to phpBB3!
Link added to return us back to my main website. That was surprisingly easy when I started to really think about how it could be achieved!

Re: Welcome to phpBB3!
We have updated to version 3.0.6 today. The observant of you will notice the RSS feed button in the website address bar. When you are in a particular forum you now have the option to subscribe to the forum news feed. Hopefully it will help people keep up to date on their most viewed forums now!
If you are not used to RSS readers you might want to use Google Reader and Netnewswire combo to keep your feeds synced and in good order. You will also notice RSS buttons on all news websites and most blogs.
Let me know if you have any problems.
