Mike, I find this offensive and an insult. I have never wanted to be, nor never could be a Man Utd fan. I detest them, completelty and utterly. They ruined for me the childhood innocence of football - your team will win a trophy. Seven times we finished runners up to them. Seven! Words cannot express my detest for Cantona, Giggs, Beckham, even Neville himself.

What I was doing was being a professional customer service employee. I was performing my duty with gritted teeth. The fact that I desperately wanted to ask him why his partner had dumped him three days before his wedding for a painter and decorator did not sway my professionalism.

On the subject of Corrie, I like it every so often. I think that it is good that they have realised that humour and not serious drama (bank managers who are killers) is the way forward. Having said that, I hate it when people tell me that I look like Chesney

Most humble appologies dear sir. I am in awe of your professionalism, I had a small guess about how good it was given your profession but I had no idea it had developed so soon. :D

Welcome to the site seaflower, you are the newest anointed 'Newbie'. As for the Buffy story, Cool! Lizzie (and Nick) loves Buffy, I am not so sure that Nick would have been as interested in Riley though. . . .

Cheeky.

I feel that I must confess about my professionalism. One day in the summer of 2001 (I think) just before I returned to Uni, Ryan Giggs came in and bought two cushions. He then asked for them to be left in storage until Christmas. Don't ask me why, I never served him. Apparently, he couldn't fit them in his car. Well, Bents said yes and we stored them on their own little shelf. The months went by and on Christmas Eve Ryan appeared demanding his cushions. Michael S, our hated manager, was a huge Manc fan and dealt with him - ''Yes, Mr. Giggs, No Mr. Giggs, etc.'' The guy kissed his backside (not literally). A few minutes previous he had insulted me in front of a customer.

Over the radio the call comes through for the cushions. Having previously annoyed me that day, I decided to be very professional. No-one knew I was there. I wanted to get Michael S back. I hid them in a hole in a supporting wall. I then walked off for my lunch.

Half an hour later I returned to the shop floor to utter chaos - ''We've lost the Welsh Wizard's Cushions'' was the statement that greeted me. Dumbledore here? Surely not I thought. I acted very innocently and walked back to where they were, put them in an obvious position and returned to my customer service role.

They were found and Michael S had to make a grovelling apology. Ryan's face was, by all accounts, like thunder.

Unfortunately, the current climate of my profession and workplace (severely dull and overcast) means we don't really get chance to have a laugh. Sigh. :(

Hey...i also forgot to mention that a couple of years ago we saw roy cropper at the Royal Exchange. we were there to see Othello, which i think is the best thing i've seen on stage. Paterson Joseph was Othello and Andy Serkis was Iago - both were fantastic and Andy Serkis just continues to be a revelation.

Well, a colleague said they saw Madonna at Piccadilly staion - although I personally think this is slightly suspect.

On a more believable note- I saw David Beckham in his car driving round Altrincham (while he was still at Man U).

Now that you mention it I DO remember seeing the Fame Acadamy bunch doing a live show at the MEN Arena. (Lizzies idea not mine) How much more of a mega star can you get????

MEN Arena: Alice Cooper
Meat Loaf

Apollo: Motorhead!!!
Deep Purple

Today, whilst I was in Bolton I saw a famous chef. It was not Ainsley, it was not Jamie Oliver, It was not Antony Worrell Thompson

It was

Marlon Dingle!!!!!!!!! (from Emmerdale)

He came to open a shop in Bolton or host some event for Century FM or something. Anyway, how did the good people of Bolton welcome this celebrity? By chanting ''sheep *******'' and ''Yaaarrrkkkshhire'' at him. It was funny and amusing.
