Good news: Koala survives being hit by car at 100 kph and dragged with his head jammed in the grill for 12 km. Bad news: now it has chlamydia

You could say that is the luckiest accident ever. Not only did you survive the car crash you are treated for a previously unknown sti! I am glad they stated the two are unrelated else I would have been more worried about crossing the road. :-D

If the Koala could talk I don't think it would take too kindly to being called Lucky - for goodness sakes, the poor bugger's been smacked, had its head lodged in a grill for 12km on possibly bumpy roads and has an STD. If that is lucky, I would hate to meet the Koala they named Unlucky.

I am puzzled by how it got an STD. But what puzzles me more is why they were searching koalas for STDs. If they give me the line ''they accidentally stumbled across it'' then I will guffaw with laughter. I always thought Steve Irwin was a weird bloke but this is a whole new level of posthumous freakiness.

Sick and wrong, just the way we like it! Talking about the Steve Irwin joke, obviously not sex with small fluffy beasts. Ahem, maybe it's time for me to walk away from this topic.

Man Cuts off his head to avoid eviction. That is excessive. He was rightly called Vulnerable in the article.

Tasmanian Devils are developing a strange disease that causes tumors around their mouths which eventually leads to death in about 5 months following infection. Unfortunately the disease is not frequency dependent (ie number of times in contact with the disease) so it looks like it will keep killing the Devils as long as they are biting each other. This occurs at every mating session so bad luck for the Devils. Specialists do not know the origin of the problem though it could be man made (fertiliser etc). On another note I wonder why they are called Devils. . . Wikipedia here I come! Wikipedia does not appear (on skim reading) to have a description of their name origin however it does have a picture of the Facial Tumors which looks extremely painful and are horrifically disfiguring. They have a mortality rate of up to 100% in densely populated areas.

unfortunately the Tazzy devil thing isn't new, its been an increasing problem over the past few years. Its a shame, I love the little critters and think they're quite cute (but then I would!). shows how potent the disease is that its caused a widespread behavioural shift so quickly.
The name relates to their screeching calls, combined with the fact that they nest in burrowlike dens- it sounds like the devil is underground in the dens.

nike withdraws trainers due to a spectacularly unfortunate name...

Its either a painful coincidence or ill-conceived marketing ploy. I think they may go for a fortune on ebay!

Bad marketing ploy - they have '' runnin' and gunnin' ''on the inside and the heel. Or is it a bad marketing ploy? They have their names in the papers....

Dwain Chambers loses his appeal. I can sum up my feelings on this one in one word. GOOD!
He cheated, he was so blasee about it saying "I cheated because I didn't think I'd ever get caught". and now because he's skint (and has to pay back his winnings from the period where he was known to have cheated) he wants to run for GB in the olympics.
I'd rather the UK sent a team of clean athletes and returned without a medal than sent ONE cheat and won a medal.
The problem now is that doping is so widespread that ALL great athletes are suspected, and there's no way to prove innocence, passing a test is seen as just getting lucky.
Lance Armstrong and Ian Thorpe are exceptional athletes who are still (even in retirement) dragged out as "cheats who got away with it"! (Lance did comment in one of his books that sueing newspapers is now one of his best sources of income!)
