Here are a few good books for potential part 3ers.

The Watts Pocket Handbook - RICS
The Architect in Practice - 9th Edition
The Legal Handbook - 8th Edition

I just thought I would share the wealth!

We don't use the consise dictionary, we use the whole 26 volumes! The magnifying glass is also used as a way of checking the foundations are still good.

Do you think we spend seven years studying for the good of our health? We do it because buildings are notoriously complicated and we are also expected to be good business and management people. . . .

Besides I think you missed the tense - 9th edition, not 9 editions! :D

PS Actually we probably do do it for the good of our health, if we were sued then I think it would be bad for the system!

that's a cheap way of avoiding responsibility, isn't it? you can't sue me, it'd be bad for the system - i doubt it would stand up in court...just like your buildings, what with them falling down left, right and centre

How many times do I have to say it, IF it falls down look to the Stuctural Engineer!

We co-ordinate the asthetic, the intent and the rest of the design team. The engineers make sure it will stand up. . . . or not! :D

Fez, it's all true: architects are all vain, egotistical glory-seekers who absolve any responsibility for what matters in a building (ie, it standing up) to other professionals at the slightest hint of a problem. I got out (or was I pushed?) whilst I could, thank God, before I was sucked into their evil world. They also sacrifice puppies as part of their Part 3 exams.

Incidentally, isn't having an icon for an exclamation mark slight overkill? I'm disturbed Mike felt the need to use one there, that must've been a loud sigh.
