Re: Exciting Month for Wii Games
We have just booked in 15 copies of Mario Kart...cue one cancelled order at Play and only a days wait to get my grubby little hands on it (sadly they were too slow for me to pick it up tonight...).
This is about the only time we will EVER have stock of a popular game, heck we bought in a load of Brain Training 1 for the DS just as Brain Training 2 was coming out!

oh crap. I'm gonna get killed when I play u guys- there's no way I'm getting MK or PES anytime soon.
Too many other things need sorting. I guess I'll have to rely on my innate gaming skill. I'm SO gonna lose!

Re: Exciting Month for Wii Games
As a round up PES and Mario Kart Wii
Two top quality games for the Wii here. Not only that but we watched our first BBC iPlayer catch up on the Wii earlier. It was seamless in streaming quality and with zooming filled the screen nicely.
The only thing that could have improved the experience was a fill screen button. Onwards for the free downloadable iPlayer later this year. Excellent work, BBC.

Re: Exciting Month for Wii Games
Oh and I have started loosing games very badly on League 2 of the game (ie Normal difficulty) that is quite hard given I was winning the earlier league 11-0 quite regularly. . .

Re: Exciting Month for Wii Games
Well, PES probably deserves a 4.5 rating: it could just be something I need to learn about the controls, but it's sometimes difficult to get the defenders to actually tackle (or maybe my defence sucked). The basic controls are fairly intuitive, and it's one of the best uses of the Wii controller I've seen yet. So:
Mario Kart was hella fun, with some crazy-ass tracks. I'll confess to having never played it before on any of the previous Nintendo consoles, but I'm not sure how super-fun this would be single-player. Still:
On a side note, I've never sworn so much in ages, although it was more of a joyous sort of swearing...

GODDAMNIT! YOU BUGGERS!!
I want both MK and PES now! I cant afford it! AAARRGGHHH!!!
More calmly- Mariokart is a return to form, brilliant mayhem on inventive tracks. Great for frantic multiplayer action, introduce a swearbox and it'd pay for itself!
PES, one of the best computer game innovations I've seen in ages! Took some getting used to, but i think this could be one of the best sports games I've ever seen.
Its games like these (plus MarioGalaxy and Tiger) which make the wii a genuine alternative to the xbox/ps3- its not a gimmick. The Wii genuinely has brilliant "proper" games!

Hooray for Zavvi!
I got both games for £63 inc p&p! (I save my change at the end of every day in an old pringles tub- I had £60!) So 2 great games for £3! not bad.

Re: Exciting Month for Wii Games
OK... I've had MK and PES for a couple of weeks now and feel qualified to give my considered opinion.
MarioKart Wii.
A brilliant game, I'd give it 4.5 if possible, but there are a few quibbles... the worst of which is that I keep getting hammered when leading. A blue shell from nowhere when miles ahead is infuriating! Sometimes it feels like you have been cheated out of the win. Also the races can be too frenetic, the emphasis seems to be on battling rather than driving skill. (That said Bex adores this game, and has probably spent more time on it than I have!)
PES2008
AMAZING GAME! Once you learn to control the players on and off the ball this game is the best footy game I've played. I'm still learning the finer tricks, but its a great feeling to shred the defence with a perfect thru ball and score. (I just beat Arsenal with my Champ.Road Team 5-1 on medium , now I've plundered their team!).
Bring on the next games day!

Re: Exciting Month for Wii Games
Glad you like it. Did you know that Mario Kart Wii was only released in the US the weekend just gone (26 April?!) I was really surprised by that one. There was a great launch party going on in Rockefeller Centre. I thought the US got all the good games first!
