Napoleon: Total War is released with an 84 rating on MetaCritic. Still no Mac compatibility. Shocking.

It does make me wonder if there are major barriers to porting games over to Mac format, but maybe they just didn't think there was a big enough market to warrant it?
At least from the reviews it seems better then Empire: Total War, which wasn't hugely well received by some fans.

I think that time is the major barrier. The games are usually subbed out to other games studio to ensure that they don't take the risk on two platforms (one very obviously with a smaller market). Although it could be said with less competition!
