Having done the gardening all day in the back jungle as I call it, I can actually see a time when I may have a barbeque in my English Country Garden. It is a way of but it is there.

We had a bbq one week ago at my parents and it was fab - flame grilled chicken, roast potatoes, kebabs, a cool, refreshing salad and a nice glass of wine. Fantastic stuff.

That is right, its all about the FIRE!

I was in the garden attacking a bush yesterday. I can now close my gate withouth having to fight the forementioned bush for access. I really really want to find out who's bush it is. Because it spans the fence I need to trim it back to see where the roots are. If it is on my side then the bush is toast!

Good luck in trimming your bush! (obviously, no innuendo was intended!)

Our hedge grew out of control until I cut it back at the beginning of April - took me three hours to do the damn thing. Still, if a job is worth doing then it is worth doing properly

I hope you are not involved in any neighbourly disputes. They are nasty things.

As long as you don't decide to burn it out and have any accidents whilst doing so, everything will be just fine.

Purchased Battleships from ASDA on Friday for ?3.97. Me and Rowenna played it on Saturday night and it is absolutely ace. What a game! Completely unpredictable, there is virtually no skill level involved at all which makes it very unnerving.

We also went shopping to Cheshire Oaks on Sunday and bought one of the best bargain board games I've ever got - Scrabble, the deluxe version. Same old scrabble but this one is in a wooden frame, turntable on the bottom, velvet bag, slightly raised holders for your letters on the board. Very, very nice. It should have been ?30 but we got it for ?12 - quite strange considering they had normal scrabble for ?15!!!!! I don't think I will ever understand shop prices.

If we could get regular games going, I would totally buy a poker table and some chips. Battleships...ah, memories. The total lack of skill/random luck element pisses me off, though. At least in most other games you can tilt the odds slightly. I suppose you could get into all the psychological profiling stuff if you were really into it.

I would be interested to know what you mean by tilt the odds. I would have thought that the only way to do this would be to cheat. . . .

we'd have to pay for matchsticks - fools and their money are easily parted so we'd be skint after three hands!

Cheating...pff. You can tilt the odds like all good players do in poker, by remembering what's already been played and working out probabilities. Same with a lot of other card games.

You'd only lose money if I made you all pay for the chips. I would never do that, things would get a bit personal and heated. Hehe.

A poker table with chips would be fantastic. Now that would be something to do - instead of going out on the lash, lets do that instead - much more fun.

You can ''tilt the odds'' in any game. In battleships you generally know that the five of the opponents are spaced around, only a real sod / experienced player like myself places them near each other 8)

What a curious simile to use! Very bizaare but a lovely image!

Anyway, I remember playing this game way back when I was at primary school - TOP TRUMPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think that this is a wonderful game because no game can be the same, it relies on a bit of luck and a bit of tactical thinking, it can be over in 2 minutes or 20 minutes and it is easy to play and set-up.

I have bought a few of the new versions of this game - Marvel Legends 1 +2, Lord of the Rings, The Simpsons. Incidently, on Sunday I saw the one I never thought I would and that had to bought by me - Newcastle United. Anyway, the game is class and I enjoy a game immensely.
