trouble with links
trouble with links
this isn't a suggestion its actually a report of a problem i've been having with the site in the last two days. every so often when using the blue thread links to move between pages, the whole site has disappeared and i'm told the computer can't connect to the server - despite the fact there is nothing wrong with my internet link. refreshing the page doesn't work but sometimes putting in the web address from pages i've already visited corrects this problem. what is happening? there is nothing wrong with my computer as i'm not having any problems connecting to other sites.
I came, I saw, I bought the T-shirt

I have not experienced any problems with the site. I will have a look and see if there is anything I can do to resolve the problem. It might be that the IP address for the forum is shared. Watch this space.

I don't seem to be able to find any problems with the site. Can you forward a screen grab of the error when it happens again? Thanks

I've had similar problems on another site, which was caused by there being too many users on and hence not enough bandwidth available. The browser only gives the server so long to respond, so it gives "cannot connect" errors. Is it possible that the site is having occasional bandwidth blips or something? I've not had the same issues myself, however.
Also, have you corrected the time to GMT +1 yet, Mike?

This version of the Forum software will not allow you to change the GMT to BST. I could set the forum to GMT +1 but that would be a fake way of looking at it. . . . . I personally don't mind so much to change the time. You can change your personal time in the Profile to GMT +1 if it is bothering you.

It's nothing desperate, asides from it occasionally looking like people have been up really early to post here. I'd forgotten about the profile settings, must've had a case of RTFM-itis.

The number of connections and bandwidth should not be a problem. The forum generally has loads of server space and loads of bandwidth to help out. It is still good to keep an eye on the situation though.
