Splicing Rope

ADAPS is looking for someone who can splice rope.

Do we have a Yachtsman in the house? Or woman, of course.

The rope should be about 10mm thick and will need to be around 6 meters long.

I know it's an odd request, but sometimes people have strange hidden talents.....

I cant do it but why would you want too? Is a new rope just way too expensive?

It's to make a large circle of rope for a pulley.

Gets ever more intriguing, doesn't it?

I'll ask the bloke next door to me - he's into boats and is a member of the canal club in Leigh - he'll do a job like that for a couple of quid probably.

He should set up a business just for rope splicing. . . . It would be great, obviously you would need to be checking out the market first and doing a buisness plan and going to the bank for money for advertising. I should think that about 6million should be enough to set up rope splicing incorporated.

6 million is a little excessive, five and a half should do!

I've asked him and he says that he can splice rope but not very well. He also looked very unwilling to do it.

He informs me that the job should cost you no more than ?5 from a reputable ''rope splicer'' but finding that someone is very difficult apparently.

Later on I will try a Google search for "rope splicer" and see what happens...
