Cool Kid Phrases.
I was thinking about innovative ways of describing things and thought that kids with their limited vocab have some brilliant ones.
Car Train is a good one to describe Scalextric.
Does anyone have others?

I remember thinking that cats were girls and dogs were boys. It disturbed me greatly to discover they were different species!

I personally liked the use of ''historical'' questions in the persuasive text that the best student in my class wrote about in her mocks.
Personal favourite from the SATs I marked
The question basically was ''Why do you think Jan Swammerdam should be admired? Give reference to the text regarding your answer'' (5 marks)
The answer given was ''he shouldn't.''
Just to give you a brief explanation, this questionwas worth about 14%!!! And would have been gone through time and time again by the poor teacher.

It is a clear answer with a decisive opinion. Unfortunately it falls down on the reasoning and other descriptions. . . . . and also fails to reference the text. All in all a model answer from a first class moron.

Slight tangent - adult presenters say the funniest things.
Today I took 46 eager kids to a ''mass-multimedia event'' known as Blue Skies that was aimed at fostering an entrepreneurial ethos within their young minds. What the day will always be remembered for is the gem of a line from the presenter
''OK, so we've got our Big Idea, we've kept it K.I.S.S. yeah, Keep It Simply Simple, right, we'll now we need to do something that we all do, something that we do every single day, everybody in this room does it, without it we would function, any clues?''
No answers in a packed auditorium because they are wondering 'WTF is he going on about'?
''OK then (in slightly worried tone)...... I tell you what, it's a Monday morning, I'll give you guys a clue.... remember yeah, we do this every day, it is a four letter word, begins with W and ends in K, any ideas?''
I say this still with a smile on my face, the audience erupted into tears of laughter and quite a few enthusiastic volunteers put their hands up until he quickly realised what he'd done and told us the answer ... 'work' obviously.
