Facebook Vs Myspace Research

Post by Mike »

This BBC article shows a class divide between the two site. I don't personally know if it is correct or not but definately quite interesting.

What do you think?

"MySpace has most of the kids who are socially ostracised at school because they are geeks, freaks, or queers," she said.
But she doesn't think she's labelling either site as good or bad?

I would suggest she looks in a mirror.

Personally, I think they join whichever their mates have joined. Anyone who wants to do research like this must have been doing a disertation or scrounging money from the government.

To be fair, she's speaking after doing a six-month PhD research project, so I think the above quote is merely stating what they've found in their interviews. Why would having the above three types make a site automatically bad, anway? Also note that her opinion on Facebook doesn't appear, so it may be worse for all we know ("made up of the in-crowd from college: jocks, posh tarts, and pseudo-bohemian jerks"?).
Ceci n'est pas une signature.
