Sudden rush of quality games this Christmas

Yo,

I just thought I would let you know about some interesting new releases this christmas.

1 - StarWars Battlefront 2

2 - Age of Empires 3

3 - Civilisation 4 (Not Played)

It is funny that all of a sudden there are interesting games on the market. I have not seen anything worth buying for ages.

Battlefront is a real improvement on the original. The original was very good but this one is slicker and more fun. I love the Jedi Masters in it!

Age of Empires 3 is an interesting one. The game screen is not full 3D but the characters look like they are. The game engine does not seem to have moved on from AoE 2 or AoM which is a real shame. This one is set in the 18th century with gun powder and muskets but these seem more like new skins than new technology.

It is fun that both of the above games have a career ladder. You improve your character in STBF2 and your home city in AoE3.

Civilisation 3 was a big piece of time-consuming waste-of-space crap, so the next one can only get better. AoE 3 I'm not fussed about, as I'm not too fond of one-player RTS's now. Unless you count SimCity 4, which I'm still playing infrequently. Man, I miss the inter-house C&C games.

If Battlefront 2 has ewoks in though, I might be tempted.

If you decide to get battlefront we have online gaming to try! Those C&C games were ace. It was a total shame that the game crashed when we fought against each other! Like the game when my tanks got to your base to be destroyed by your advancing tanks, then your tanks got to my base to get demolished! Happy times. . . . .

Christmas, and to games companies that means....ca ching. Time to cash in big time. Hence the sudden explosion of games releases. No suprise really...happens every year.

Surely the games companies would benefit from spreading the release dates a little? That way people aren't forced to choose one or the other, and they can still charge full prices for them, as they'll be fresh out, instead of in the cut-price section by easter. Plus you'd have just finished one by the time another came out.

Possibly. But then again, some...no...many people will buy them all anyway, irrelevant of when they are released.

Battlefront 2 is getting better and better. I would heartly recommend it for anyone who like first person shoot em ups. The game could be classed as morally reprehensable though. . . .

My only gripe is the fact I sometimes feel a bit like a one man army. They other computer controlled players become confused and do not go for the mission objectives when playing in confined spaces. The upshot of this was me dieing about 4 times trying to kill a hanger full of rebel scum

The same applies when fighting on the Princess Leiya ship. The PC players are running around in the corridor and I am left on my own trying to destroy several computer consoles.

To further support a point I made previously in this thread:

My friend actually intends to buy an Xbox360, as it comes out. A prime example of the world of gamers that are willing to go to such lengths, at whatever the cost. I mean why spend 100s of ?s on such machines. I know I've done it myself in the past, but no more.
