Thomas Cook: BAD!

Post by Mike »

Well Thomas Cook are by far our least favourite travel agents EVER. They rang me at 5pm today, less than 12 hours before we fly to Cuba to let me know that the tour around the country has been cancelled. They did not have 'sufficient interest' in their words. We are pretty gutted as we have guide books coming out of our ears (not derogitory - we love em but are gutted they wont be used!) for the country and will not be able to visit any of the attractions. Lizzie was to say the least, Gutted. To say the worst furious.

We have written a very strongly worded letter to Thomas Cook to bitch and complain bitterly about it and are after a hefty refund (hopefully so we can make up for the disapointment by going somewhere exciting to actually experience another culture).

PS. If they lose our luggage, dont get us the free trip to Havana or upset me in any little tiny way then they will be picking their own intensines out of their teeth for weeks. . . . .

I'm gutted just reading it!

Damn straight you need a hefty refund: not only do they cancel a major portion of the trip, but they also tell you so late that you have very little time to arrange any substitute tour off your own backs. Plus it's a one-off occasion they've not exactly added to.

However, I have faith in you two not letting it get you down and having a brilliant time!

On my order - Rain HELL! We have already sent the first volley of complaints to ABTA and Thomas Cook! Hopefully we will have a formal response when we return from Honeymoon - well more than the 'Thanks for your letter, we will look into it' holder. This is as far as we have gotten with the complaint about the 'wedding list'.

Will have a great time I am sure - but it is not what we wanted, how frustraiting.

That's terrible, and the last time I will even look at a Thomas Cook holiday, let alone go on one!

Have a great time and enjoy the mojitos! :D

Sue and I booked our Norwegian Fjords cruise through a travel agent. We won't do that again. They have no expertise whatsoever and do not avoid the pitfalls. It's not worth the small discount that can be had.

Next time we will examine every detail in the brochures for ourselves and book direct.

Mike & Lizzie are now on the plane and on their way. That nearly went awry as well as they'd been incorrectly booked into Economy.

You don't book a honeymoon flight in Economy!

Give them hell Mike. That is seriously wrong to tell you just 12 hours before you fly.

I've got a letter to write to Central Trains about me being two hours late into Nottingham and missing part of that gig. Nowhere near as important as the above, but feel free.

Well we are in CUBA. When we got off the plane we were told that there would be another tour leaving on Tuesday that we could have a place on - great. . . . save we had to some how arrange a payment of 600 quid whist on holiday - what a way to drum up a cash advance fee and exchange fee for something we should have already paid for. We eventually decided to pay it then take Thomas Crook to the cleaners when we get back. No point wasting out honeymoon sitting by the pool. :!:

Exactly! Honeymoon should be for enjoying, not worrying about silly mistakes from the travel agents.

I'm glad to see you have, what I would consider, the right attitude Mike. Unbelievable memories and incredible experiences shared with a love one are often worth a good price but they are a price that is worth paying!
