Re: Things Learned Today!
What is the work history of this person?
''Hi, my name's Damien and I was chief chalk supplier for the infant staff at my primary school. I am skilled in all kind of writing material including the dangerous permanent markers.''
Surely they have to be some sort of high-tech pen used for research purposes (being a university) and not just a bog-standard biro.
On a side-note. What are the career prospects?

Re: Things Learned Today!
Its actually a slightly obscure reference to a Graham Parker lyric alluding to the incompetence of various managers...
I've spent the day arguing with the bean counters
all of whom seem to be interested in short term goals over long term gain. Such is life...
I've got a field trip tomorrow
And I already know what I'll learn... no matter how often you tell the students its gonna be a cold day and that they'll be outside all day, someone will forget their coat!
Why doesn't natural selection weed these people out? I reckon modern society is too soft sometimes.

Obviously I was not ingnoring the above. We had problems with dead batteries in Fiesta's to. I don't think they are really related to the manufacturer though it must be more to do with the age of the beast!

I had a fiesta too... It had the most delightful habit of cutting out. Then it would refuse to start for several mins afterwards. I was ecstatic when it happened on the Edinburgh bypass oneday.

OK, if you reckon it'll make you feel better:

Re: Things Learned Today!
My old Fiat used to do that, the 'engine management system' had a slightly dodgy thermostat and would just let the engine heat up until the point where it would overheat and cut-out. The engine then would have to totally cool down before it would start again. I had it happen in traffic jams, at traffic lights, in petrol stations and once on a round-about just after leaving the motorway...what a great little car!stimpsonslostson wrote:I had a fiesta too... Hmm...I'm not sure I can feel the sincerity there!Claire wrote:Al, I'm sorry you have a shit car.
I think I'll be looking into changing it in the Summer, especially if the service due in 1000 miles comes up with anything over the price of the car (i.e. more than £100!).

Lesson 15:
Soundcards are not as easy to install as you might think. Especially when they stop your onboard LAN from working, forcing you to check everything else, then swear and move the card to a different slot. Turning stuff off in BIOS is really easy, by way of small consolation, and my sound's now much better overall.

Re: Things Learned Today!
Doesn't make any difference if you happen to work for them! In fact in some circumstances it's even more difficult to get a straight answer!
