Walk the Line

Post by Claire »

Has anyone else seen this movie?
Me and Christine went to see it last night and paid ?5.50 (weekday!!!) for the privilege.
Good news is, it was fab! :)
I would give it a 5-star rating - it was toe-tapping good and had a very satisfying resolution. Joaquin Phoenix has an enigmatic charm (that's my line and I'm sticking to it  ) and a great melodic voice. i can understand why he was apparently so consumed by the role in real life. and reese witherspoon proved herself a woman of considerable talent too.
Less highbrow than some of the other review have been...i'll just say "go see".
btw - i know Mike's trying the amazon DVD rental scheme. have any others been taken advantage of, and if so, which are the most reliable/efficient? there's a whole barrage of films coming out and being of Yorkshire stock i want to save some pennies! free stuff, yeeeaaah! :D

This sounds like another film Lizzie and I should make efforts to see. I must admit that going into a film knowing very little about it can be very rewarding sometimes. It means I have very low expectations and am more likely to be impressed.

I was gutted by the price of cinema tickets at parrs wood. The weekend is about ?6.50 and considering that you can go as many times as you like a month for ?9.99 it is very frustraiting. Cinemas are a rip off, maybe I should build my own in the yard and get evertone round  :D

Me and Rowenna do that scheme at UGC cinemas or ''Cineworld'' as it is now known. It actually costs ?10.99 a month which isn't bad considering it costs ?5.70 for any other showing apart from the 'early bird' times. Therefore, we have to go twice a month for it to be worthwhile (or 24 times a year). Generally, we go about twice a month but sometimes we go more - especially during the summer when all the blockbusters are out.

The best thing about it, is that we go and watch virtually every movie out and see some that we wouldn't normally have paid to go and watch and it turns out to be much better than I expected - Corpse Bride for instance. Also, because we budget for the expense in our savings plan it feels like fairly cheap entertainment 8)

Can I just say its not actually Cineworld as such. The cinemas that were owned by UGC are still UGC but they have become part of the Cineworld 'family'. Its a bit like Asda becoming a part of the Wal-mart 'family'. UGC still exists.

Corpse Bride is a brilliant film - went to see it shortly after it came out, for friend's birthday.
