Guide To Horror: Evil Dead 2

Post by Fez »

i love this film. before this i had never liked horror of any sort but for some reason one saturday night when i was eighteen i decided to sit down and watch it, and a whole new world of gore encrusted joy opened up before my eyes. it's gory, it's funny and pretty damn weird in places which is probably what drew me in to begin with. the original film - which it would be a good idea to watch first as they do follow on from each other - was banned in britain during the eighties as one of the first video nasties, even though in truth there was much more gruesome stuff like driller killer around at the same time which it was lumped in with and was therefore made out to be more stomach churning than in it really is.

ash's hand being possessed and trying to kill him is still one of the funniest things i've seen on screen, plus who hasn't known a girl who's head you've wanted to lop off with a shovel? for these reasons and many more besides this is a 5S film. i've got the third one on dvd too but haven't got round to watching it yet - anyone seen it?

A while since I've seen it, but it is a quality film. Doesn't take itself too seriously, as the hand scene proves. I can't believe it was banned: it's amazing what a media frenzy will do.

the moral majority are often made of up some pretty brain-dead lunatics claiming to be acting in other people's best interest. let me decide what i want to watch and what not, i do possess enough mental drive to avoid stuff i don't like - usually by just reaching out and flicking the channel to something else. problem solved.
