This is rates as one of the best films ever. Personally I did not see why it was rated quite so highly. I liked this film but I would only really say it was worth of:

4S

I must have been more stunning when it first came out to make such a star of Michael Caine.

I like this film a lot. It is one of those movies that I watch when it comes on but don't necessarily want to own it. I know what you mean about not understanding why it is rated as a great film. I don't think it is mediocre but I don't think it is great.

I like the fight scenes and I like the way they recreated history. The camera angles are good but something is lacking in it for me.

4S
Good solid fun.

i liked this too though not enough to make time for it if it comes on the telly and there's something slightly more interesting to do. usually it makes good fodder for the christmas / new year holidays just because then i do have the time.

3S not for repeated viewing on a regular basis
I came, I saw, I bought the T-shirt

This is one of those films that I have to watch when it's on tele, despite the fact that I've watched loads of times and actually own it as well. In fact, I'm not sure I've ever watched my dvd of it as it's on tele so regularly.

What I hate is when you haven't seen something for ages, buy it and then it is on telly the next weekend. Now that is sooooo annoying.

I personally like trivia/interesting facts about films. Here is one for this film. James Booth's character, Private Henry Hook, didn't travel abroad for filming because all of his filming out there required him to be in the hospital tent. Therefore, they saved money and shot that in Britain! I bet he was naffed on because he missed out on a free holiday!
