Fritz Lang's classic film for me is incredibly repetitive. Did you get the edition that was in the Times last Saturday? Which version do you have - the original 153 minutes like me? If so, lucky you!
I personally have my own copy - I had to do an essay for SF on 'The Concept of the City' looking at Arthur Clarke's City and The Stars, H. G. Well's Time Machine, Simak's City and Metropolis.
I thought the film was very good for its actual concept but not a masterpiece. I also quite sadly own an action figure of the woman - Maria, I think.
Overall, because of its concept and the fact that it was a ground-breaking film
