Conan The Barbarian

Post by Fez »

possibly the best fantasy film before LOTR was filmed, conan the barbarian is like a d&d adventure with all the dull bits taken out. it's a gore splattered swords and sorcery story with arnie making the best use of his limited acting skills, but anything with james earl jones in as the bad guy is worth watching anyway - i'm pretty sure god talks in the same deep, rumbling all-knowing voice.

okay, it might be a bit trashy, but it's worth watching if you haven't got other plans, though i'd avoid the sequel which relied too much on special effects that weren't all that special and a plot what came out of gary gargax's ideas bin. there are very few decent fantasy films but this is one of the good ones - anything beats the shit out of hawk the slayer.

4S

I liked the film but the beginning was a little too laborious for my liking. Arnie is good as the muscly-warrior and his wooden acting skills are truly put to the test!

I agree, it is good to watch when you haven't got any other plans
however, only 3S from me
