The Departed

Post by Lizzie »

This is a film directed by Martin Scorsese, and as such is pretty much what you'd expect - gangsters, crooked police and mucho violence !!

Having said this, the acting is top notch with the lead roles being taken by Jack Nicholson, Leonardo Di Caprio, Matt Damon and Mark Whalberg. All in all some parts were a bit violent for me but it was a good story and kept me entertained the whole way through (and given that it was over 2 hours long).

I would give it

4S

Interestingly, some prat brought his young child ( I'd say he was about 6ish) to see this film which I think is an 18. Given that some of this film was too violent for me to watch, how is this going to effect a small child and what was the cinema doing selling a ticket to this gibbon ?? I have to say I was quite amazed !!

It was a very good film where the crooks and the police both had lovely rats in each others organisations. It was a really good film and I would recommend. It is a bit gorey and bloody but well worth it.

4S

I had to knock a star off for it being slightly too long! :D

Jack Nicholson

Jack Nicholson...enough said

4S

...changed my mind, was a great film with some hilarious one-liners, would thoroughly recommend it to anyone, as long as you do not fear the sight of blood, although, you can always look away as they aren't throughout. Ray Winston was ace as the sidekick and I think should have featured in the billing as I think his role was quite sizeable and significant.

Claire and I haven't sworn so much after a film since Pulp Fiction, but it was "all in the best possible taste"...sort of

Loving "MATT DAMON!!!" [said in 'Team America World Police' stylie - and I never realised until my mate James said on Friday that it is Matt Damon voicing himself in the film and taking the p*ss]

All in all Scorsese is a genius, a beautifully executed story with a witty and clever script, some of the quick banter between characters, however filthy, was excellent! :D

 And there was everyone thinking you were two nice, polite young ladies...

I agree with the average 4S rating of The Departed. It is definitely a return to form for Mr Scorsese, and only misses out on being a five star film because it's not Goodfellas!
Nothing says "romance" like a kidnapped injured woman!

Christine and I are nice, polite young ladies, Al. Stand corrected there, that man. We just happen to swear like fish wives. hahahahaha.
I thought the Departed was very good, and i am not opposed to a bit of mindless violence (in the cinema). though blood and gore is not a problem for me in the slightest. give me a bit of religious/spiritual horror (even 12a stuff) and i can't cope. christine had to watch bits of Jane Eyre for me recently cos i was too scared. ditto 'the da vinci code'.
as for the swearing...gotta love it. my best though was actually after watching Pulp Fiction, with MY MUM. i was dying to say something rotten after, just to get it out of my system, when my mum proceeded to say - on her way to bed - "i think i'd better go and brush my m*&%erf*cking teeth now!"
And yes, for those that know me, she's where i get it from.
PS can you tell i've been back at work with the chiddlers today? my mind goes more random and my "crazy control" stops working!
The crazy gets claustrophobic!
