We have just ditched Amazon DVD Rental because we are fed up with receiving scratched and trashed DVDs that suddenly stop playing half way through and then start again...
I don't know how renters manage to cause the mass of scratches that they do, but the whole rental system will fall apart if this is the norm.
Anyone else with any experience of rental by post?

We have LoveFilm at the moment. It has a similar problem, I think that the DVD's are pretty poor sometimes.
At first we thought it was due to our DVD player which can be very temperamental! We came to the conclusion that it was due to the disks because all of our disks play just fine! I think one way to deal with it is to mark each disk as faulty. I am going to start doing that so they only send me new disks.
