Tha Gangs of New York

Post by Mike »

Leonardo DiCaprio and Daniel Day Lewis clash in a gritty film centred around Union New York city. The gangs play out a war for territory on a minute scale around the poor 'five points' in NY city.

This is a very good film by Martin Scorsese and I would say above average. The accents get a little confused at times but that is the way of American films . . . .

I can't remember it well enough to rate it fairly, but Daniel Day Lewis is so superior to DiCaprio in this it's alarming. Very well shot, as you'd expect, but I remember being not entirely happy with it towards the end. Some memorable characters in it, and Lewis rocks at playing the psycho.
