Forumula One 2007
The King has retired from motor racing and it is the dawn of a new age of competition with Fernando Alonso trying to make his distinctive mark on History. The lights are on as we count down to the Formula One Grand Prix 2007.
Starts on the 18 March 2007 in Melbourne.

i've really been looking forward to this season since the last one ended because i'm hoping for a leveller field this time round. hopefully we will see what kimi is made of now he's in a car that wont wimp out every other race, and i have to agree jenson will be consigned to another year of very british 'oh, well at least you tried' syndrome. although on saying that, i'm praying hamilaton at mcclaren will finally be the great driver we've been missing in this country for so many years.
I came, I saw, I bought the T-shirt

Lewis Hamilton. . . . podium. . . . first race EVER! I am impressed. I hope that the pressure does not get to him (or the hype) it would be good to see a British Driver near the front running slightly more often. :D

I have just finished watching the race in Sepang and was very impressed. Hamilton managed to get and keep his second place in the race which is amazing. It was obviously very brutal and the drivers all looked knackered after the race.
There is another race next week but it is shaping up rather well. Massa really needed to keep the faith and not challenge the rookie so much, going of the track is back a couple of races in terms of performance. He needs to keep it all together.
I have also heard some interesting things about the Honda package this week. Apparently it is running on totally environmentally friendly fuel. I am going to check this out more but if true I am very impressed and I hope they get the package working correctly for them very soon. :D

lewis hamilton - finally a british driver who can succeed. i'm sorry jenson fans, but i've always thought he was overrated - so what if he had won one race? it was in a rainstorm, chance could have given that victory to anybody.
nice to see mclaren back kicking ass too, and williams are creeping up -how pissed must webber feel?

I am starting to sound like a bit of a stuck record but OMG Lewis Hamilton is second on the grid again. He could make formula one history this weekend by taking a podium today.
I would be hoping that the promise was being shown here actually transforms into a world championship winner of the future.

Well I am glad that I did not jinx him. Second on the podium again and a world record to his name. The only problem with such a strong start is the fact he will eventually have a car breakdown or similar problem when he is not going to be in the points. I can not see this race performance being held all season, they are already making noises about his engine so I think the next race may be a burn out.
It must be very difficult for him to deal with the expectation. People are expecting a race win this season. . . . He is definitely doing a good job though.
To talk about the race more holistically though Alsono was fifth. This must be disappointing for him, one place higher and he would have lead the world championship by a margin of 1. Nick Hindfeld did a good job in a resurging BMW Sauber to take the fourth place mark from him.
Two week gap now but hopefully the next race in Barcelona will be just as exciting. :D

Jackie Stewart has come to the front saying Lewis Hamilton has what it takes to be a world champion in his debut season. . . . I am amazed he can make that judgment after only three races. I don't want to detract from his success but it is too early to tell yet.
Like Ron Dennis said at the end of the last race. You are now joint at the top of the championship. Not bad for a Rookie!

I can't decide whether Hamilton's incredible start is down to superior driving skill, a superior car or simply a great big chunk of luck and adrenalin.
I don't think he'll keep it up all season, but it is nice to see a Brit standing on the podium regularly!

We were disappointed this weekend with no Forumula One being shown. The next race is on the 13 May 2007 which is an age away. Bummer.
